Superintendent Copeland thanks community partners for support during transitions

Superintendent LuVona Copeland used the Sept. 9 meeting to recognize several community partners that provided support to Okmulgee Public Schools. Copeland specifically acknowledged the Okmulgee YMCA for providing practice space for the football team until Harmon Field was available, and named Clearview Baptist Church, Neal's Home Store, Casey's and Joe's Italian Restaurant and Pizza for assistance during the high school transition to the CAAT building.
The superintendent also recognized student participation: fourth-grader Kendall Dean led the Pledge of Allegiance, the Oklahoma Pledge and the Primary Creed prior to the meeting. The board did not take action related to the recognitions; they were presented as acknowledgments from district leadership.
