Council adopts new voting ward map and gives first reading to boundaries ordinance

The maps were provided by GIS/SECOG to ensure compliance with state law incorporating the most recent census population counts and ethnicity groupings within the city limits. Council members reviewed the proposed maps and voted to accept Map #2 (Action 25-105); they then approved the ordinance’s first reading (Action 25-106). Both motions were recorded as approved with no opposition.
The council did not finalize the ordinance; the first reading advances the process subject to any required public notice or additional readings per municipal code. Staff indicated the updated zoning map prepared by SECOG was also reviewed in the same packet to reflect current ordinance history.
