Montrose officials approved a chip-seal contract with the county highway department to cover the south half of the city from Main Street to Michael Circle.
Finance Officer Nicole Siemonsma reported the council received two bids for the FEMA-planned street repairs: a county bid and one from Seal Pros, Inc. in Harrisburg. Council members said the county bid was the lowest; the council approved contracting with the county (Action 25-104). Council Vogel moved the motion and Council Binder seconded; the motion carried with no opposition.
The chip-seal work was described as part of FEMA-related street repairs funded in the aftermath of the June 2024 flooding event. The council did not specify timing for the work in the minutes; staff were directed to coordinate scheduling and implementation with the county highway department.
