Council approves FEMA revenue correction, adjusts automatic budget supplement

The Montrose City Council voted July 8 to lower the Automatic Budget Supplement tied to FEMA reimbursements for the June 2024 flooding event from $93,703.56 to $88,503.33.
Finance Officer Nicole Siemonsma told the council the revision reflects actual FEMA revenue received, not earlier projections. "We need the supplement amended to match what FEMA actually sent," Siemonsma explained to the council during the meeting. The motion (Action 25-102) was moved by Council Vogel and seconded by Council Scheff and carried with no opposition.
The change updates the city's revenue assumptions for flood-related spending, which the council had earmarked for street repairs and chip-seal work as part of FEMA spending plans. The amendment will be reflected in the accounting records and used to reconcile the 2024 fiscal-year flood response expenditures.
The council did not vote to change specific FEMA-funded projects at the July meeting; subsequent line-item spending was discussed elsewhere on the agenda.
