Council signs off on insurance, media and safety policies; approves bills totaling $70,765.13

The Montrose City Council on June 10 approved several administrative items including insurance renewals, policy adoptions and the payment of bills.
Council approved the SDPAA annual property/liability insurance policy replacement values (Action 25-090), adopted the Montrose Media Policy (Action 25-091) and the Montrose Safety Policy (Action 25-092). An AED offer from the fire department for the pool and city office was declined by the council, which indicated preference for using 911 and fire-department AED locations.
Finance Officer Nicole Siemonsma presented the June vouchers and payroll; the grand total approved by motion (Action 25-093) was $70,765.13, which included line items such as SDPAA insurance ($14,363.91), The Park Catalog picnic tables ($11,334.43), and monthly water purchases from Kingbrook Rural Water ($5,426.30). Council also received the 2026 budget draft to begin discussions ahead of the September approval timeline.
