Jason Walter, executive director of the Cross Timbers YMCA, urged local residents to volunteer for coaching, food distribution and board service during a brief presentation in Flower Mound. Walter said all youth coaches are volunteers and asked for a few hours on Saturdays to pack and give out food. "If you can come out for a few hours on that Saturday and help pack the food, give out the food," he said, describing the monthly food blessing program.
Walter framed board membership as another form of volunteering, saying the YMCA is "looking for key community, leaders and to come and serve on our board." Michelle Diaz, the board chair and campaign chair, highlighted the personal rewards of serving, noting the organization’s broad reach from seniors to children. The leaders said donating time, money or advocacy would help the organization grow its impact across the community.
