Mayor Miller opened the groundbreaking for the new Macon‑Bibb arena by calling the day "a great day to be in Macon‑Bibb County," thanked dozens of project partners and invited the crowd to celebrate a milestone he said will create “memories for the next generation.”
The ceremony included a formal land acknowledgement, remarks from the Bibb County School District superintendent about an education partnership, and presentations from architects and contractors describing a facility designed to seat more than 12,000 and host sports, concerts and community events. "This building represents our future," Mayor Miller said during his remarks.
