The consultant and MSD staff asked whether council wanted a full median on 8400 West or to pursue a gap study for a northbound left-turn; council instructed staff to proceed with the full median option.
Chad, the MSD presenter, described project funding and timeline. "This the design team involved in this big UDOT project, dollars 15,000,000 on our side," he said, and reported the city’s rough share for one segment is "about $3,000,000". Staff noted two remaining property acquisitions on the 8000 West project before construction can proceed and said environmental clearance remains the critical path on the 2700 South realignment.
Council asked for follow-up on property-acquisition status and for confirmation of signal and school‑zone sign responsibilities where residents raised safety concerns earlier in the meeting. Staff committed to follow up on the electronic school‑zone sign near Matheson Junior High and to provide additional timeline and cost detail at a subsequent meeting.
