Magna wins $120,000 WFRC grant for SR‑201 corridor special area plan; city to match $30,000

Matthew Starley, long‑range planner for the Municipal Services District, told the council Magna was selected to receive a $120,000 Transportation and Land Use Connection grant from the Wasatch Front Regional Council to produce a SR‑201 Corridor special area plan.
“We got a $120,000 from the WFRC…which we have to match with $30,000 from the city,” Starley said. He explained the plan will assess underused land along SR‑201 to determine potential for employment centers, commercial uses and workforce housing, and said the product will move through the planning commission and then to the council for adoption as a guiding plan for the city.
Council members asked about the grant match and the timeline; Starley said the MSD will use the grant and the city match to hire a consultant to prepare a special area plan, to be coordinated with the transportation master plan.
