Magna police report 685 parking citations, 187 criminal citations and arrests in vehicle burglary case

Lieutenant Chris Benedick presented recent enforcement statistics and described a multi-step burglary investigation that led to multiple arrests. He told the council the department issued 685 parking citations and 187 criminal citations last month and recorded 90 DUIs for February. He called the numbers "all proactive work that our guys are out there doing to make our community a little bit a safer place."

Benedick highlighted a vehicle burglary from a recent Saturday: officers used a license-plate lead to make a traffic stop, identified suspects, executed a search warrant, recovered stolen industrial equipment and executed felony arrests. He said eight felony arrests resulted from the follow-up and that an occupied residence was shut down after the home search. "Both recover all this home property ... the home search warrant that we served, additional property, and drug use," he said, summarizing the operation and follow-up work.
