Resident commends police for response during Cypress High walkout

Cisco Rodriguez, a Magna resident, told the city council the student-led walkout at Cypress High School was “hijacked by the presence of an outside adult agitator” and said officers who removed the disruptive adult preserved students’ safety and the exercise of civic rights. “When our police department removed the agitator, they were upholding the principle that no one is above the law,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez framed his remarks as support for law enforcement’s role in maintaining a safe space for student expression and urged respect for students’ rights. The comment was made during the public‑comment portion of the Feb. 10 council meeting and prompted a brief thank-you from the chair. The council did not take formal action on the issue during the meeting; staff follow‑up was offered as needed for any outstanding operational questions.
