Council approves purchase of two used police vehicles to stay within FY27 budget

Seaford’s police leadership requested permission to use FY27 vehicle-budget funds to buy two used vehicles from DNC Auto Sales: a 2022 Ford Interceptor with about 42,000 miles priced at $16,500 and a 2019 Dodge Journey with 46,000 miles priced at $8,500. Staff explained the vehicles would be used in the Criminal Investigations unit for prisoner transport and administrative tasks rather than as high-mileage patrol cars.
Councilwoman Stephanie Grassett moved to approve the purchase; Councilman Bradley seconded and the purchase passed unanimously. The chief said the purchase is intended to remain within the current $225,000 vehicle budget by reallocating funds and applying an available upfit credit if needed.
