Council asked to approve promotion of Jaden Hagel to Public Works equipment operator; truck-driver vacancy to be advertised

Public Works recommended council approval to appoint Jaden Hagel to the position of Public Works equipment operator. Jason Stordahl said Hagel has worked for the department for several years, rising from seasonal mower to truck driver and operating heavy equipment.
"He's a very highly qualified candidate and we're looking to, asking for council approval to hire Jaden as an equipment operator, grade 11 step 2," Stordahl said. Stordahl added the position is budgeted for the year. He also said the department would advertise internally for a truck-driver replacement for five days before opening the vacancy externally if no internal candidates emerge.
No formal vote was recorded at the work session; staff said the appointment and subsequent hiring steps will be presented for council approval on the regular agenda.
