The council reviewed a special-event application for a craft show proposed for Sept. 19, 2026. Staff said the plan calls for about 20 craft vendors along 3rd Street with a separate area for food trucks and that the vendors would operate roughly 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
"They're looking to have ... about 20 craft vendors," Ms. Olsen said, briefing the council on the layout and noting the event hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Olsen said staff and department heads had reviewed the plan and had no objections; she added staff will prepare an equipment list and cost summary once the closure plan is finalized. Council members recommended closing the whole block of 3rd Street for more space and to improve the vendor experience. Staff said if alcohol is not served, the city typically would not assign an officer.
Organizers indicated they had permission for adjacent parking areas and staff recommended the full-street closure approach to make setup and pedestrian movement safer. The council did not take a final vote on the permit during the work session and directed staff to finalize logistics and return with any necessary costs for approval.
