Donnie Zalewski (speaker 5) explained that the current control hardware dates to 2004 and that spare parts are no longer manufactured; Rexel provided an evaluation and a recommendation to replace the primary panel to ensure the plant's automation and data collection. "This is the heartbeat of the entire SCADA system," Donnie said, noting the work will support a longer-term capital improvement plan and allow additional automation and data retrieval.
On the pump purchase, Donnie explained the staged approach: buy one new pump, then rebuild the others in-house to spread costs; a quick replacement reduces the risk of service outages because pumps operate 24/7. The board approved both expenditures from the water pollution capital reserve accounts.
