Resident presses town on rodent infestation; board says code enforcement is engaged

At the public-comment portion of the Select Board meeting, Mike St. Laurent (speaker 15) described an ongoing rodent infestation at 189 North Avenue and said he has spent about $1,000 on private extermination efforts. "We've spent approximately 1000 bucks between exterminators, buying our own traps and baits," Mike said, and asked the board what the town's process is for abating the source property.
The chair and staff replied that code enforcement (Aaron) is handling the case and has been issuing notices; if the owner fails to comply the matter can be escalated and legal action pursued to require cleanup. Staff committed to follow up with the resident and to copy the appropriate town contacts. Board members and attendees also described past seasons with natural rodent population booms and noted that sustained control may require extended effort.
The Select Board did not take formal action at the meeting beyond the promise to provide the resident with the procedural timeline and to continue coordination with code enforcement.
