Southland elected officials praise ComEd relief fund at Cornerstone event

Elected officials from the Southland region gathered at Cornerstone in Ford Heights to endorse ComEd’s new customer relief fund and to pledge assistance connecting residents to available resources.
State Senator Napoleon Harris (15th District) thanked ComEd and Exelon and described elected offices as conduits for information rather than direct funders: "We are here as a vessel, as a tool to help to spread information… when residents called our respective offices, we had the guidance to show them where to go get help and relief." Harris urged residents to use the program as summer electricity use rises.
State Representative Debbie Myers Martin (38th District) called the announcement “good news” and emphasized the value of corporate partnerships: “When we can validate and we can celebrate that we have corporate partnerships and caring about the residents of the Southland, that it is a good day.” Mayors Rick Reinbold (Richton Park) and Jason House (Dalton) also thanked ComEd for the investment and said local governments will coordinate outreach.
Officials said their offices will guide residents to the partners administering the fund and suggested attendees meet ComEd representatives after the program for enrollment support.
