The Valdosta Mayor and Council approved several equipment purchases to update public works and utilities fleets. John Burton, Motor Pool Superintendent, told council the 130-horsepower enclosed-cab tractor to be used for right-of-way mowing will replace an 18-year-old unit and recommended awarding the low bid from AgPro at $136,000.
Burton also recommended approval of a Linder, Turf & Tractor front-loader 4x4 for the Withlacoochee Wastewater Treatment Plant at $65,150.54 and a compact track loader from Lincoln Yancey Brothers at $150,837 to mulch, load and clear right-of-way debris. Council moved, seconded and approved each purchase by show of hands.
