Valdosta council approves $21.5 million funding package, awards Mud Creek plant construction to local bidder

"Our low bid was from Hunt Industries Incorporated of Valdosta, Georgia in the amount of $18,880,157.53," O'Dowd told council and outlined a total requested funding amount of $21,509,219.47 that includes increased professional services and contingency funding.
O'Dowd said bids were solicited in accordance with state procurement rules and that the project design has Georgia EPD review pending final approval. Council moved, seconded and approved the award and funding request by show of hands; one council member asked for a printed copy of the packet materials that had been read aloud. Staff said the funding breakdown identifying which instruments cover which scopes is included in the agenda packet and that construction and additional inspection services are planned under the adjusted professional-services agreement.
