Cortez said adding the new Rogers account into the citywide fixed contract is possible and would insulate the school from market volatility, producing estimated savings of about $3,000 per month for Rogers. Councilors pressed whether signing the new contract would forfeit the city's ability to pursue recovery from a prior supplier for alleged overbilling; procurement staff said pursuing recovery against the previous supplier remains an outstanding and separate issue and would not be prevented by approving a new contract, though recovering funds may be difficult in practice.
