City Attorney Paul Sumner reported on Sept. 23 that Code Publishing requested clarifications to several existing city ordinances and recommended excluding some items from recodification. Sumner proposed that he and City Manager Kevin Lewis perform a line-by-line review before presenting the re-lined code to the Council.
Sumner suggested the Council adopt an ordinance with a savings clause at the next meeting to formally incorporate the newly codified ordinances into law. The minutes record discussion and the attorney’s recommendation but do not show a vote or ordinance number; the item was placed on the agenda for future action.
Council members will receive the re-lined code for review prior to the next meeting; the Council did not take final action during the Sept. 23 session.
