Board to accept $22,000 donor gift to fund elementary digital sign, installation expected soon

Hardyston Township Board of Education members were notified Oct. 14 that the district will accept a $22,000 donation to fund an electronic sign at the elementary school.
A finance committee member described the gift as coming from a donor and said Donna Carey accepted the check on the district’s behalf. “We did receive over $22,000 from a donor…to be used for the electronic sign at the elementary school and it will be in her late husband's honor,” the committee member said. The Board President confirmed the district will accept the donation and said the donor requested a commemorative plaque.
School staff and a board presenter said the town will assist with removal of the existing sign and installation of the new digital sign. The board also plans to allocate a portion of the funds to replace an aging wooden middle‑school sign. Installation is expected in the coming weeks, the Board President said.
The board will vote to accept the gift as part of consent agenda action recorded during the meeting.
