Middletown Springs proposes $354,566 operating budget; selectboard keeps increase modest

Robin Chestnut Tangerman, speaking for the selectboard, said the board crafted a budget designed to keep increases to a minimum while maintaining town services. "We heard Chris talk about the fiscal responsibilities, challenges facing the state, and that will be trickling down to the town," Chestnut Tangerman said, adding that the town and highway budgets are "less than the rate of inflation" with increases of roughly 2.5 to 2.7 percent.
Selectboard members said the budget was intended to be responsible while preserving essential services; no motions or votes were taken at the informational meeting. Voters will consider the appropriation by Australian ballot on March 3, 2026.
