The Chair moved that poll workers may be drawn from any registered voter in the town of Middletown Springs; the motion was seconded and carried without objection.
The Clerk explained the town’s practice has been to select poll workers from the active voter checklist so that volunteers are available and qualified. The Clerk said experienced volunteers are easier to deploy because counting and tabulator responsibilities require demonstrating specific numeric proofs to the tabulator. The Chair and members discussed allowing first-time volunteers to observe to gain experience without interfering with operations.
Members also discussed bipartisan representation at polling places; the Clerk clarified that while it is recommended both parties be represented, it is not a legal requirement.
