The City accepted a Proposition 64 Public Health & Safety grant that will fund a dedicated code‑enforcement officer focused on illicit cannabis cultivation and unregulated sales, a vehicle and specialized equipment, and school/community prevention and education programs. Lieutenant Travis Hudson said the five‑year award would allow the city to go from reactive response to proactive enforcement and multiagency coordination.
Hudson and Capital Advocacy Partners staff explained the grant includes support for enforcement coordination with regional partners (CDTFA and other task forces), evidence‑collection technology and grant management resources. Council members and public speakers repeatedly framed the program as youth‑focused prevention. The council voted 5–0 to accept the grant and authorize the budget amendment.
