Colfax police report Use-of-Force reporting, two felony assault arrests and upcoming river search

Police Chief Michael Melcher briefed the Colfax City Council on department activity and ongoing public-safety work. "Use of Force reporting is online today," Melcher said, referring to the state requirement for agencies to post use-of-force incidents. He also reported the department assisted with a drug take-back at the Farmer's Market on Aug. 21.
Melcher said weekend patrol calls resulted in two felony assault arrests and that a search of the river is scheduled Thursday to follow up on a 2016 missing-person cold case. He added that the Washington Attorney General's office has been conducting interviews and investigations in the Colfax area for several months. Melcher said he is working on policy updates and the other requirements to apply for public-safety funding under Washington House Bill 2015.
