Colfax council approves lodging-tax funds for state-compliant event signage

City Administrator Matt Hammer told the Colfax City Council on Sept. 2 that the city is seeking lodging-tax funds to pay for state-required signage for special events such as Winterfest and Concrete River Days and their parades. "The signs included in the application packet meet the WSDOT specifications," Hammer said.
Hammer explained the request stems from an absence of a specific line item for facility or special-event signage in the street department budget and that lodging-tax funds are an appropriate source for tourism- and event-related signage. Councilmember Golden moved to adopt Resolution 25-17 and Councilmember Huntwork seconded. The measure passed by roll call vote with all members present voting yes.
The resolution was presented as a single-purpose request for signage; the council did not add conditions or amendments during the meeting. No dollar amount for the signage was specified in the on-record remarks; the written application packet was noted as meeting state specifications.
