Stormwater board recommends interlocal agreement to fund East 117th Avenue watershed study

Board member Nick Bellard reported that the town has received funding from the Little Calumet River Basin Development Commission to study drainage along East 117th Avenue, primarily between the town border and Benton Street, and requested the stormwater board sign off before execution by the town council.
"We received some funding from the Little Calumet River Basin Development Commission to study drainage on East 117th Avenue," Bellard said, noting the commission would pick up most of the study cost. Other board members reiterated the need to study the old railroad pipeline that passes under the corridor and said increased traffic and new subdivisions have made the issue more urgent. One participant noted, "My river basin is picking up 80% of the..." reflecting the funding split discussed by the board.
A committee member moved that the stormwater board make a favorable recommendation to the town council to execute the interlocal agreement for the East 117th Avenue drainage improvement watershed study; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said the watershed analysis had already been started by staff (Frank) and that the study should be completed before the end of the year.
