The Board of Public Works and Safety affirmed two demolition orders for garages at 16341 74th Place and 7132 Chestnut after staff said both properties had proper notice under the Unsafe Building Act and were in significant disrepair. For the Chestnut property staff identified the owner as Deborah Brown and noted MidFirst Bank holds a mortgage; the board recommended affirming the order and putting the work out to bid.
Separately, staff recommended rescinding a demolition order for a vacant lot at 26191 67th Street because the lot was in escrow and being sold, and the board approved rescinding that order. The board also authorized publishing a notice to solicit bids for demolition of a RiverNorth property (advertising dates April 9 and April 16, 2026; bid opening April 30, 2026). Inspections staff said notice had been provided by certified and regular mail, publication and posting and that the Unsafe Building Act enforcement authority recommended the actions.
