The Town Administrator presented two Freedom of Information requests from Jeff Donahue seeking records related to the discontinuance of Buzzell Road. Donahue asked for records under Title 23 M.R.S.A. §3024 related to the road's discontinuance and for copies of the public hearing and town meeting where the discontinuance was voted upon under §3026-A. The board discussed that assembling the historical documentation could be a substantial task and the Town Administrator said interested parties are welcome to review the files at the Town Office.
Selectmen discussed the difference between discontinuance and a decision to no longer maintain a road, and noted that Buzzell Road appears to be partly town-owned and partly private; Selectman Winchell said his interpretation was that a vote to discontinue plowing and maintenance had occurred in the past. The Town Administrator said she will continue researching the historical records to clarify the status.
