Residents warn of transportation impacts if Stanley Road is closed; BZA says county commissioners decide closures

Multiple residents warned that if Stanley Road were closed or traffic rerouted, travel times for farms, school buses and emergency vehicles could increase substantially. "When Stanley Road goes, what goes from Lynnville ambulance to come to my home will take them an extra six, seven minutes to get there," said a resident who asked the board to consider emergency‑response impacts.
Chris Wisher, town attorney for Elberfeld, told the board it could impose reasonable conditions on approval, including notice requirements if a county application to vacate or temporarily close Stanley Road is later filed. "I would hope that you would consider imposing a notice requirement similar to the notice that you have for this meeting to provide residents with notice of that application," Wisher said, noting that county commissioners ultimately decide road vacations.
Applicant representatives acknowledged the point and said any closure of Stanley Road would be a separate application to the county commissioners and could be years away. Board members asked staff to prepare condition language and said they expect to consider setbacks and notice provisions before the August meeting.
