Council to restart Ann Street resolution, seeks engineering and legal review

Councilmember Mackleit proposed drafting a new resolution for Ann Street that would incorporate Complete Streets language, specify fire-truck turning-radius requirements and set a minimum 20-foot street width. Mackleit said a prior resolution was not accepted because it lacked a second, and asked the council to revisit the item with clearer technical language.
After discussion the council agreed to continue the process and obtain technical and legal input before returning with a draft. Tom Stirling of SynTier Engineering will meet with the fire department to evaluate street width and turning-radius standards, and Attorney Hannah Kimball will review potential city liability related to noncompliance with the International Fire Code guidelines. No formal ordinance or vote was taken at the Nov. 3 meeting; the council directed follow-up work.
