Dr. Bradley, speaking for Newton County Schools, said the district's investigation "has confirmed that an unauthorized actor illegally accessed our network." He said the statement came "a little more than 48 hours" into the probe of Monday's reported outage and that investigators are continuing to examine the incident.
Dr. Bradley said the district had previously implemented proactive measures to protect critical functions and that staff have relied on manual processes and alternative procedures to maintain essential services during the disruption. He urged the community to use a newly launched network outage web page on the district website for updates and information.
