County removes recalled bagged lettuce from stores, advises washing produce and buying whole heads

County public-health teams are visiting stores and working with retailers to remove recalled bagged lettuce as part of the cyclospora investigation. "We did go and remove those bags of lettuce from those establishments," Dr. Kanika Cunningham said, naming additional retail locations where county teams conducted removals.
Cunningham recommended that consumers wash all fresh fruits and vegetables under running water even if packages say "prewashed," and suggested buying whole heads of lettuce or produce from local farms and markets while the investigation continues. County staff also suggested choosing cooked vegetables or hot meals when dining out to reduce risk.
