Selectman Ed Walsh resigns; Selectmen vote to shorten nomination period and set Dec. 14 special election

Roux outlined a proposed schedule (papers available Oct. 28; signatures between 25 and 100; an initial note referenced Nov. 12 as a potential turn-in date). The Board then adopted a motion to shorten the filing period: nomination papers to be available Oct. 28, the deadline to file set as Nov. 11, absentee ballots to be available Nov. 13, and election day set for Dec. 14, 2021. The motion was made by Selectman Ed Walsh and seconded by Selectman David Winchell Jr.; the motion passed unanimously with Selectman Kimberly Stacey-Horn absent.
The minutes record the Board’s intention to avoid running with a two-member Selectmen board for longer than necessary and to keep absentee-ballot availability at the recommended level.
