Selectmen agree to cover handyman duties after Transfer Station winter layoffs

Town Administrator Jennifer Roux reported that staff at the Transfer Station were notified of winter layoffs tied to the new Superintendent position and slower winter operations. "One of the staff members notified was also the current Handyman for the Town offices; when notified of the layoff, he decided not to finish out the handyman term and turned in his keys," Roux said. She asked the Selectmen to assist with light maintenance and trash removal until the Superintendent starts, and Selectmen David Winchell Jr. and Ed Walsh agreed to help on a temporary basis.
Roux provided a short schedule for the interim tasks: sign work will be completed on Thursday and trash duties on Saturday. The arrangement is temporary and intended to bridge operations until the town’s new Superintendent assumes responsibilities. The Board did not take a separate formal vote beyond the verbal agreement recorded in the minutes.
