On a separate FOIA for legal spending, Town staff said the Treasurer provided the FY2020 total spent on lawyer fees for the fiscal year (Town Meeting 2020 to Town Meeting 2021) as $10,630. The transcript lists the spending as covering multiple appeals and counsel, including named firms in the town’s record.
The board noted the Buzzell Road matter has been researched repeatedly and that the route’s legal status hinges on interpreting historical town records and whether private roads were accepted or later modified; residents were advised to review warrants and work with the Road Commissioner or Road Association to pursue acceptance if desired.
