Board hears Q2 Capital Improvement and operations reports; PFAS equipment plans under DDW review

Engineering Manager Scott Schroder and Operations Manager Matt Brooks presented quarter‑two updates on capital projects and operations. Schroder listed completed projects (Grass Valley WWTP SCADA Room No. 228; Manhole Inflow Reduction 2024 No. 257; I&I Manhole Rehabilitation 2024 No. 258; Well #5 Rehabilitation J108; Well #6 Rehabilitation) and ongoing work (Corporation Yard No. 253 nearing completion; Willow Creek WWTP Building No. 255 demolition complete with July 30 delivery expected; Meadow Bay & Blue Jay Slip Lining No. 263 delayed pending material delivery from Germany; Slip Lining Various Locations No. 266 nearly complete; Solar Farm contract finalized). Schroder also listed projects in design such as Blue Jay Well No. 187, Lift Station #2, and a one‑million gallon reservoir tank at Grass Valley WWTP.
Mr. Brooks reported that lake draw decreased by about 100 acre‑feet with wells contributing an additional 15 acre‑feet; purchased water from CLAWA increased due to PFAS blending and the Cedar Glen Plant remains offline. Regarding PFAS, Brooks said the voluntary blended and treated water sample from Bernina WTP is pending results and that PFAS removal equipment plans are approximately 90% complete and under review by the Division of Drinking Water; the District has requested a meeting with DDW staff to discuss the review and potential modifications prior to final approval.
