LACSD reports PFAS detection at 3 ppt; regulatory review needed before removal equipment bidding

The Executive Committee heard that a voluntary PFAS test of IX Plant treated water detected PFAS at three parts-per-trillion, below the regulatory response level of four ppt. District staff also collected raw-water samples at the Bernina Water Treatment Plant and Wells #2 and #5; Well #6 remains offline. The Operations Manager told the committee the divergence between deliveries (down 3%) and usage (up 0.5%) was attributed to reduced water loss.
Cerri said plans for PFAS removal equipment are pending final review by the Division of Drinking Water; once state approval is granted, the District will need to obtain state permitting before the project can be put out to bid. The committee did not take a procurement action during the Executive Committee meeting.
