A public commenter and tourism representatives highlighted upcoming community events, and the council approved related permits during the meeting.
Laura Meyer (public commenter) promoted the 5th annual Bella Nota Italian Festival on Aug. 8 at Arms/Orange Square Park and urged attendance: "Please come out and join us. It is, again, August 8 from 12 to 9PM..." The council later approved a landlord authorization/liquor consent for Roadie's Rolling Bars to sell alcoholic beverages at the Italian festival for that event only. Council also approved an event application for a Rosary rally scheduled for Oct. 4 at Orange Square Park with fewer than 100 attendees.
Tourism and events staff also announced the Delaware River Cardboard Boat Regatta on Aug. 22 and described volunteer and vendor application processes. The council approved related event motions and instructed staff to finalize event paperwork and sign authorization forms where required.
