A city planning report presented several land‑use items: the planning board approved a trade shop project at 27 Railroad Avenue (a 30‑by‑40 foot pole barn) and approved renovation plans for 11 Sussex Street converting it into a mixed‑use building with commercial space on the first floor and one‑ and two‑bedroom apartments above. The report noted preservation of an historic Crowds Photo Shop sign inside the new commercial space.
The public hearing for a proposed mixed‑use building at Pike Street was extended to Aug. 18 because the applicant did not attend. The board reviewed a presubmission for the former FlowJean property at 1–7 Water Street, which calls for ten two‑family dwellings on a separate lot to allow a creamery to remain; floodplain, drainage and site layout concerns require further review and the proposal was continued to the August planning meeting.
The planning board's next meeting was announced for Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Common Council Chambers.
