Corporation counsel explained the city used the state's model policy with local adjustments before bringing it to the council for adoption.
"We've taken the state's model policy... I've, sort of tweaked it for Port Jervis," counsel said, noting the resolution implements the policy immediately. Councilmembers voted in favor of the resolution without recorded opposition.
Adoption of the policy will allow the city to comply with state procurement requirements and maintain eligibility for certain state grants and contracts. The resolution took effect immediately upon passage.
