The Nutter Fort Town Council on Aug. 27 approved the second reading of Ordinance 2024-09, authorizing the issuance of up to $1,500,000 in Sewer Revenue Bonds, Series 2024 A and up to $2,500,000 in Series 2024 B under the West Virginia SRF program to fund extensions and improvements to the town’s public sewerage system. Councilor Karen Phillips moved to pass the ordinance on second reading; Councilor Rick Lafferty seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote.
Treasurer Leslie Cummings told the council that Requisition #3 on Phase IV of the sewer project had been approved for $312,365.33 and that the town approved the acquisition of a lift station and three customers from the City of Stonewood. The ordinance and the requisition are separate actions: the ordinance authorizes bond financing for future work, while the requisition covers an immediate Phase IV pay application.
Council members did not request further amendments during the meeting. The ordinance text presented to the council outlines sale and security provisions for the bonds and authorizes execution of associated documents; no final bond sale terms were announced at the meeting. Next steps include any required administrative steps to issue the bonds and continued progress on Phase IV construction.
