Ray (election official) described the ballot handling procedures the office uses when ballots arrive: "So anytime a ballot comes in, they're barcoded in and then alphabetized, by the day with a little report wrapped around it, and everything is secured in the vault," he said. He added that once ballots are barcoded and placed in the vault they "don't get touched again" until preprocessing.
Board members also asked about drop boxes and signage. Ray said the drop box at the front is the only valid drop box and that drop boxes are checked and locked at 4:30 p.m. on election day: "At 04:30, I check both boxes and I lock them and I sign them." The board discussed messaging to remind voters about deadlines and that postmarks are not accepted in the state for this election.
