Nutter Fort council appoints Emily Lamm to vacant seat; Kathy Powell named to library board

The Nutter Fort Town Council unanimously appointed Emily Lamm to fill a vacant council seat through June 30, 2025, and appointed Kathy Powell to the Library Board through the same date. Both appointments were approved by unanimous votes during the Sept. 24 meeting.
Mayor Sam Maxson and two council members interviewed five candidates for an open council seat and the council unanimously appointed Emily Lamm to fill the vacancy through June 30, 2025. Councilor Rick Lafferty moved the appointment and Councilor Charlene Louk seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Lafferty described Lamm as having "expressed forward and positive thinking," which the council cited as a factor in the selection. The appointment fills the seat formerly occupied by Jim Link.
Separately, the council appointed Kathy Powell to the Library Board through June 30, 2025. Recorder Natalie Haddix moved the library appointment and Councilor Karen Phillips seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Powell told the council she "would be interested and willing to occupy that empty seat." The council did not schedule further action tied to either appointment at the meeting.
