School replaces scoreboard sign; city seeks engineer and flags insurance and budget needs

The school acquired a replacement sign for the McRae/Ireland Baseball field and the city's power crew disconnected and removed the nonworking sign, Recreation Committee minutes show. City staff said the new sign requires a structural design under the sign warranty before materials and installation can proceed, and the city is seeking quotes from engineers for that work.
Interim City Manager Tim Johnson told the committee this job was not planned in the current budget and staff expect to add the installed sign to the city's liability insurance. Because of the timing of delivery and scheduling of design and construction, staff warned installation might not be completed before the high school baseball season.
