Superintendent Matt Young presented a revamped, two-page strategic plan aligned to six pillars and said the district's BEST (Building Excellence and Success Together) committee would focus on communications this year. Young described the plan as shorter, more actionable, and suitable for multiple channels, and he told board members the intent is to make district priorities widely understandable and actionable.
'2et's make it something people can read,' Young said, arguing the previous plan 'was too specific' and often not actionable for administrators. He noted the district conducted a community survey (low overall response but useful detail) and that feedback showed strong readership of the district's weekly newsletter and Facebook presence. Young proposed short video and podcast pieces to reach different generations and asked for administrative and board feedback before finalizing the plan.
Board members praised the condensed format and suggested adding an explicit advocacy clause tied to monitoring changes in law and policy. Young said administrative teams will operationalize the pillars with monthly reporting aligned to the plan.
