Lemon Grove adds two community-oriented deputies and reports declines in overall crime trends

Mayor Allison Snow highlighted public safety as a top priority, thanking the Lemon Grove firefighters and sheriff's department for frontline service and announcing two new deputies for a community-oriented policing and problem-solving team funded through Measure T. "We got 2 additional new deputies," Snow said, describing their focus on drug sales and overdoses, gang-related issues, retail theft and trolley-area presence.
Snow presented 2025 service numbers: the fire department responded to 4,215 calls from a single fire station; sheriff deputies responded to 10,798 calls for service with 6,103 deputy-initiated activities; the traffic division issued 659 citations and arrested 65 drivers for driving under the influence. She said overall crime trends were down from 2024 to 2025 and scheduled an annual sheriff's report in March to update on the new team’s progress.
