Heritage Pines board approves additional cleanup at parcel 33, notes wetland constraints

The Heritage Pines CDD approved a proposal for additional cleanup work at area identified as parcel 33 on Dec. 10, 2024. The approved scope includes perimeter cleanup, removal of dead trees, and mulching; the board also approved an optional scope for weed‑whacker cleanup on the dry retention slope, with the invoice to be paid upon completion.
District Engineer Kurt Heath told the board there is a natural wetland in the center of the parcel and a separate excavated retention area on the western side; he said the south side is difficult to mow with standard equipment. The proposal had been requested by Supervisor Carol Vaughan; Mr. Walsh moved the motion and Mr. Putman seconded it. Mr. Gatz told the board wood chips are free and additional mulching will occur in early spring; he said he will inspect dwindling native grasses at Hole 2 and advise whether replacement is needed.
