Chair appoints joint-dispatch committee with Dec. 1 target to plan countywide consolidation

Chair announced the creation of a countywide joint-dispatch committee and named members, saying the panel should use legal resources and begin work immediately. "We're gonna come up with a resolution...supporting the joint dispatch and heading for the December 1 deadline," the chair said; the board approved the committee appointments and directed open meetings and use of appropriate legal advice.
Board members discussed including staff with operational expertise on the committee or as advisors. Several members emphasized that legal and labor counsel (Phil Debolstein and labor attorney Rick Stewart were named) should be involved to address employment and operational questions. The committee will report back and the board scheduled related safety-committee meetings to coordinate next steps.
